SCIENTIFIC CONSULTANT

Brief info

He is a Biochemist with a Ph. D. from the National University of Rosario. He did postdoctoral research at the Universities of Osnabrück and Düsseldorf in Germany, and Harvard University in the US.
Currently, he is a Senior Researcher at CONICET and leads the group of plant stress biochemistry at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Rosario (IBR). In fact, he was among the founders of this recognized research institute. He is Professor of Molecular Biology at the National University of Rosario and has been visiting Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of Zaragoza.
His research addresses plant response mechanisms to adverse environmental situations involving abiotic and biotic stresses, as well as the development of strategies to increase plant tolerance to such situations. His studies have focused on the role played by redox and electron transfer processes, especially those linked to photosynthesis, in the detection and signaling of such responses.
He is an active member of several scientific societies, including the Argentinian Society for Biochemical Research, the Iberoamerican Molecular Biology Organization and the Latin American Academy of Sciences. His significant scientific contributions have led him to be awarded with the IFS Silver Jubilee Award from the International Foundation for Science, the John Simon Guggenheim Scholarship and the Konex Platinum Award, among others.
